Frequently Asked Questions What is a conservation Area (CA)? A conservation area is an area of a local borough that is marked out as being of special character and architectural value. If you live in a CA you will be required to obtain permission from the local authority before any work can be carried out. This process can take up to 6 weeks to obtain. Our dedicated team can check whether or not you are located within a conservation area. Arbortech Tree Specialists can also submit the relevant planning applications on your behalf for free. What is a tree preservation order (TPO)? Trees with a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) are specially selected for their beauty, prominence, history and are of high value to the local area. As such, the Local Authority mark them on a plan and have a number in a schedule. If trees on your property have Preservation Orders on them, it doesn't mean that you cannot do any work on them but you will need to obtain permission from the Local Authority before work can be carried out and this permission can take time to obtain. Arbortech Tree Specialists can submit your planning applications for you for free. Arbortech will be able to inform you if your tree has a TPO or you can contact your local council. Do you have insurance? Yes, we have £5 million public liability insurance, £500,000 professional indemnity insurance and our staff have unlimited employers liability insurance cover. Is there a best time of year for tree work to be carried out? Some fruit trees have seasonal tasks e.g. Apple (Malus sp.) and Pear (Pyrus sp.) trees between October & May, and Cherry (Prunus sp.) & Plum (Prunus sp.) trees between June & September. I want to have a tree removed, can you get rid of the tree stump afterwards? Arbortech have several stump grinders which can be used to remove your stumps. Care is taken by our team in order to reduce the amount of damage to the surrounding area. Do you remove your own rubbish and tidy up after you have finished working? Part of our service means we tidy up afterwards. Stumps can be removed and trees/ logs removed unless the client stipulates otherwise. Arbortech prides itself in making sure when they leave a site that the client’s property is left how they found it – tidy. All debris removed from site is re-used where possible.
